Learn from one of the Midwest’s best watercolorists. Demonstrations and individualized instruction will be included. If weather appropriate, some class time will be spent outdoors. Materials list will be provided after you pre-register.

THE ART OF FRAMING with Ken Dubin

This workshop will explore basic framing solutions of ones art, collectables or just about anything you may want to frame. Discussed will be materials used for preservation framing and why its important, designing the frame your artwork will be put in, considerations artists will find useful for exhibiting their work, tips for the do-ityourself framer, where to find materials and more.

DIGITAL LANDSCAPE & NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY w/Ken West

Capture beautiful landscape and nature photographs with your digital camera. This workshop will be oriented toward beginner and intermediate photographers. In addition to these scheduled classes, there will be an optional field session (weather permitting) in which Ken will guide students taking landscape and nature photographs on the Jefferson County Trail.

SOFT PASTEL with Gin Lammert

Gin will share her techniques in creating vibrant soft pastel works through individualized attention & artist demonstrations. Class supplies to bring: Soft Pastels, 3 sheets MiTentes anson paper, 9X12” or 12X16” (no white or extreme colors),masking tape, paper towels, masonite drawing board & table easel if you have.

CUT PAPER DESIGN with Donna Colby

Inspired by Matisse’s vibrant cut paper works, create a design using colored paper cut into imaginative shapes.

FLOWER AND LEAF FORM with Donna Colby

The class will begin by studying Matisse’s brilliant use of these natural forms in his paintings and drawings, and then you will create a composition of your own using paint (watercolor or gouache) and/or ink.

Our Instructors:


Donna Colby is the owner and director of Flying Leap Art Space. She received her education in painting and illustration at Rhode Island School of Design and has been an artist, writer, and art teacher for decades.

Ken Dubin started STUDIO 210 in the West Loop area of Chicago. Clients include the Spertus Museum, Chicago Holocaust Society, Adler Planetarium, Chicago Historical Society, Chicago Architecture Foundation, New Orleans Art Institute, the Racine Art Museum in Wisconsin, PS1 in New York.

Gin Lammert has been working with soft pastels since 1995, creating award winning portraits, Landscapes and still lifes. She is member of Mid America Pastel Society.

John Preston, a very well know midwest artist, is a master of watercolor and pastel. John has works in many private & corporate collections and exhibits regularly at Olsen Larson Gallery in Des Moines.

Wendy Read is an accomplished fiber artist. She is a member of Iowa Art Quilters Guild, Professional Art Quilt Alliance, America Quilters Society & International Quilt Association.

Bill Teeple is one of the most popular art teachers in Fairfield. He has been teaching all levels of art from beginning to college graduate level in Fairfield since 1998.

Ken West teaches digital photography at the college level and last year was invited to teach a workshop at the National Center for Nature Photography.
