The CHICKADEES | 8:30-10:30pm
July 13 @ 8:30 pm - 10:30 pm CDT - $5
The CHICKADEES are a dynamic act and a powerhouse of vocal talent. With a country-rock feel and down-home charm, they never disappoint, performing a wonderful mix of original work with new takes on some classic covers. This will be their Depot debut in full concert.
Allison Metcalf and Stephanie Fisk first met in Kindergarten at Cardinal Elementary school in Iowa. They have always been best friends, and they have both always had a love for music. After Stephanie taught herself how to play the guitar, she began to write songs more seriously. Allison and Stephanie began writing songs together in approximately 2011 or 2012. They started off performing at the school talent shows and the school assemblies. They also performed a few other places such as at Cafe Paradiso’s open mic night every Wednesday, and some other local talent shows, one of which they took home both first place and crowd favorite.
The Chickadees officially became a band with a name in the summer of 2017, and it all took off from there. The Chickadees found themselves getting booked like crazy very soon after they became an official two piece acoustic band. They got 6 calls in one day from different business wanting to book them, out of nowhere. They now play or have had the opportunity to play at many different places such as, Crazy Girls Boutique in Farmington IA, The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville TN, Riverside Casino in Riverside IA, Market On Main in Ottumwa IA, and many more. The Chickadees are so excited that things are starting to take off, as it has always been their dream to be famous singers.
You might be wondering… Where did the name “The Chickadees” come from? Well there is a short story behind it. Allison and Stephanie were racking their brains trying to think of the perfect band name for themselves while on vacation in Nashville TN. They decided, and undecided again on many names. A couple names that were at one time an option were, Ladies In Lace, and Mellifluous. The girls thought they would never find the perfect name that didn’t sound either cheesy or ridiculous, to the point of people not even knowing how to say or spell it. Then on their drive home from their vacation Allison’s mother, Margaret Metcalf said, “Hey, one of you chickadees hand me something to snack on.” That was it! As soon as she said those words, Allison and Stephanie both knew that was the perfect name for their band.
