Free for all Current Southeast Iowa Blues Society Members. Non members will be charged a cover charge of $10, which will waived if they sign up as new members at the event. Music will be provided by Tony Blew from 7-8pm and Bluzillion from 8-11pm.
Tony Blew makes his home in Ottumwa and began playing professionally in 1963. Early in his career he played guitar in the Soul R&B band TCB and was featured in an I.E.B.N. TV special, “Get Down with TCB”. He also spent nearly a decade touring the country in a trio with his dad. In the 1980s, Tony and drummer David Bernstein started the band Shabazz which enjoyed great success. He was inducted into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame in 2016.
Do you love soulful blues with taste of funk and rock? Then you’re in for a real treat when Bluzillion, a band based out of Burlington, are featured with their signature sound of harmonica-anchored blues a la Jim “Fenchie” French with Sarah Wilson on vocals, Ted Brooks on bass, Justin Pickering on drums, Fairfield’s Doc John Cutler on keyboards and Nick Knedler on guitar.
